I am Isabel Farinha, I’m Portuguese and hold a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, branch of Chemical-Biological Analysis from the University of Lisbon. After several years of experience in multinational companies in clinical diagnostic, health ingredients and the pet food sector, in 2015 I founded my own technical consultancy, Petifa, in 2015.
With both technical and marketing expertise — now reinforced by an Executive Master in Corporate Sustainability — Petifa provides strategic support not only in product development but increasingly in sustainability-driven initiatives. Our work focuses on helping companies integrate responsible practices, strengthen their ESG approach, and build more resilient, future-oriented operations.
For 15 years, we have collaborated with pet food manufacturers and rendering companies, helping them achieve optimal oxidative stability in their products, solving oxidation challenges, and supporting the transition from synthetic to natural antioxidants.
Petifa now offers specialized consulting for any micro or small enterprise — across all sectors — wishing to prepare its VSME Sustainability Report, the Voluntary Sustainability Report for Micro-Enterprises recommended by the European Commission. Our mission is to make sustainability reporting accessible and valuable for smaller businesses taking their first steps in ESG, regardless of their industry.
Petifa offers different services and expertise, including:
The VSME framework helps micro and small enterprises communicate their sustainability practices in a simple and structured way. At Petifa, we support you with understanding VSME requirements, identifying key sustainability topics, collecting and organizing essential data, and drafting clear and credible reports that prepare you for future EU sustainability expectations.
Oxidation has always been a big challenge for the pet food and rendering industries. It is extremely important to choose the correct antioxidant, use it in the most adequate dose at the right place, in order to delay oxidation and increase shelf life in pet food, meat meals and fats. We can help you making the right choice.
Pet food is no longer just a simple “feed for dogs and cats”. We can see many different formulas, even in the economic segment, adapted to specific needs, ages, sizes, and breeds of the pets. In Petifa we work with one of our partners to give you all the support in the development of new formulas.
Once you produce a stable kibble, a good palatability makes all the difference when it comes to the animal’s choice. More palatable doesn’t necessarily mean more quantity or more cost.Petifa works with one of our partners to give you all the recommendations for the enhancement palatability.
Marketing’s importance in pet food has been increasing in the last years. Pet owners are more demanding, more informed, and want to give the best to their pets. With our experience in pet food markets worldwide, in Petifa we can help you with your marketing campaigns, product positioning, market studies in almost all the countries in the world.
Quality rules but price continues to be a crucial element when creating a new formula. Better doesn’t necessarily mean more expensive. Choosing between different types of ingredients and providers can give you a cost reduction without loosing quality. Together with our different partners, we can support you in your search.
